“ . . . My refuge, my place of safety . . .”The past couple of weeks have been ones of concern and many challenges in our country.  We’re not sure how much you have seen on the news outside, but there have been a lot of politically motivated demonstrations and problems. Fuel prices skyrocketed a couple weeks ago, and this became the proverbial “straw that broke the camel’s back.” Schools, shops and petrol stations were closed for the better part of that week.  Day by day, new reports of serious things happening in our city and all around, were coming in, so much so that it is sometimes hard to tell what is real and what is fake news.
Through it all, our testimony is that He is our refuge and place of safety.  We have been safe throughout, as well as our students, staff and church members. School is open and we have resumed most of our regular week to week activities.  Psa 91:1-2 (NLT) says, “Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 This I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I trust Him.”
Please pray with us for the peace of Zimbabwe, for wisdom, and for some long term, clear solutions for some very complex problems.

Victory Learning Centre Update
Thanks to the Lord and His faithfulness, and several very generous donations from our ministry partners, we were able to clear the arrears  we shared about last year and end 2018 in the black. Enrollment  is up by about 10 students, so we thank the Lord. Thank you for your obedience and faithful support.  VLC is making a difference in the lives of many young people.
The photo of the young men with us (Tanaka and Joel) is a testimony to  the SMILE Ministry, VLC, and two very diligent young men.  These two guys came to us around the grade 6 or 7 level.  One of them was with us for about 6 years.  They are sons of ladies from our SMILE group.  Anyway, we received great news this past weekend.  Both of them continued to further their education after VLC, then completed advance level high school studies.  They applied and were accepted to further study in a university in Europe, and they leave in a couple weeks to continue their studies there. Thanks for your faithful partnership in helping us carry out ministry to moms and kids. This is an amazing story of what the Lord can do in and through those who will hear and obey His voice.
Pray with us for continued financial provision for our faithful teachers to be paid on time.  Pray for the forward movement of our registration process so that we will be able to impact more children for the kingdom of God.

In our last newsletter, we made an appeal for help to purchase another solar borehole (well) pump for the village. We thought the cost would be about US$2500. It is slightly more, but at the time of writing, we have had $1400 committed to it so far, and one other partner waiting to hear what the balance will be needed to complete this.  The garden continues to be a source of income for some of our ladies and we are excited to get this other pump installed very soon.  Currently, we are selling onion, carrots, lettuce, cabbage, and beets.  We just met for a planning meeting and more vegetables are being planted this week.  Please pray for expanded markets, good growing seasons, and health for the things being planted. Thank you
A Personal Medical Need
In late 2013, I (Dan) began to have some issues with my right leg and hip.  I had various tests done here in Zimbabwe and the doctor concluded that I had the beginnings of osteoarthritis in my right hip (apparently an aging issue). At that time he prescribed anti-inflammatory medication to take as needed, then said that maybe “some day” it might need to be replaced. For the past 5 years it had not given me much problem, but later last year, it started giving problems where I have to take pain meds on a regular basis. The doctor x-rayed it and concluded that I need to have hip replacement done. That "day" has arrived. We have done research and it seems that the cheapest and best place to have it done is in Mumbai, India.  Here is our issue.  We have some medical insurance but even with  that, we will be facing a sizable shortfall of somewhere between $7000 to $8000.io This includes visas, travel costs, the procedure and hospital costs, and some additional accommodation costs.  We are asking that you prayerfully consider helping us with this need. Anything you can do will be appreciated.  We have made preliminary arrangements with hospital representatives here.  As soon as the funds are in, we will proceed to India, and get the surgery done (Yvonne will accompany me as required by the hospital).  If you have questions, you can write to us (Email: danharding.zw@gmail.com) or give us a phone number and we will get back to you immediately.  Funds can be channeled through the normal giving channels at Grace Harvest Church. Please clearly designate for
“D. Harding Medical.”  Thank you for your prayerful consideration and action.
Conclusion:
We are so grateful for all your words of encouragement, your prayers and your ongoing support.  Truly you are partners in every sense of the word.  Our heavy hearts have been encouraged and lifted - the sense of peace restored and we know we are covered under His wings.  Bless you all for your ongoing commitment to this ministry - His ministry.  We will continue to be His hands and His feet in Zimbabwe and let Him receive all the glory.
